Fired Clay

This genuine old example of the classic conical
vessel has the exterior decorated with incised curvilinear motifs.  Remnants of buff and white pigments are still evident.
 

The coil pot  is burnished smooth then incised when leather-hard. After firing, the negative cutaways of the decoration are painted then smoked to seal it.

Good patina and condition  makes this  decorative artefact collectable.
