Marap Ancestor Figure Burui-Kanai, Papua New Guinea 89 x 32 cm Weathered wood & polychrome pigments Two stylised anthropomorphic heads are the motifs in this old spirit sculpture. This piece was once part of Dr Gerrit's extensive collection. He was based in West Irian & in PNG from 1961 to 1977 and described his interest in artefacts as 'a hobby that got out of control'. We purchased this piece when the doctor's collection was being sold and can provide the certification. AUD$430
