A rare and dramatic example of an early 20^th century mask of spectacular zoomorphic form. This one has dramatic patina in white, green, ochre and crimson. 

the Bhutanese are renowned for their highly skilled mask makers.  In Bhutan, masked dances are performed in monasteries once to twice a year, the ritual dating back over 500 years. The Dance of the Eight spirits is one where an animal mask such as this would be used.
