Chinese Stool 19th Century China Height 53cm Length 49cm Width 32 cm Pine A well preserved and crafted example of 19th century Chinese joinery. In keeping with a design that evolved over centuries this piece relies on line and proportion.
The delicate waist below the top incorporates subtle strip inlays while
the skirt is slightly flared and its bottom edge is relieved with a double
step on each side. All the joints are tight and in good condition with a glossy, old patina. There is a knot hole in the floating panel of the top. This piece has not been over-restored and bears its age gracefully. AUD $330 |
