Untitled 2004

Pintupi Western Desert Australia

Acrylic on Belgian linen

122 x 61 cm

Born in 1956, Eileen Napaltjarri is the daughter of Charlie Tararu Tjungurrayi one of the founding members of the Papunya Tula Art Movement.

This powerful and evocative painting portrays the site of Eileen’s father’s birthplace west of Kintore and is infused with her dramatic interpretation of the images handed down to her of the desert dwellers' culture and mythology.

Her unfaltering execution reveals her status in her community and the associated access to tribal knowledge.

Eileen’s work has been exhibited in leading Australian galleries including a solo show at Utopia Art Sydney.  Her work has been acquired by the Art Gallery of New South Wales and Artbank.
The prices her works fetch have been increasing recently.

This painting comes with original Papunya Tula signed certification.
Papunya Tula is the oldest, established, Aboriginal-owned organisation and its certificate is the most reputable guarantee of authenticity in this most vibrant sphere where provenance is paramount and is integral to the value of the painting.
This painting was purchased directly from Papunya Tula by Ozmosis Art curators.
