Ada Bird Petyarre c 1930 is one of the senior women from Utopia, a major art region in Central Australia.  Ada was a founding member of the Utopian Art movement in the mid eighties along with her sisters Gloria Petyarre, Kathleen Petyarre, Violet Petyarre and Jeanne Petyarre who were all artists.

Ada Bird always painted awelye designs.  Awelye refers to the painting of designs on women’s bodies during ceremony and Ada was one of the first to transfer theses designs to canvas.  Her designs represent the Dreamings she shares with her late aunt; the late Emily Kame Kngwarreye.   She remains today as one of the iconic awelye artists and her works remain striking with their confidence, boldness and vivid colour.

Ada Bird Petyarre’s works on canvas and batik are represented in galleries around the world. The German film maker Wim Wenders acquired on of Ada's works when he was filming in Australia. Ada no longer paints due to failing health.
