Arriving in Lik Lik Village in Malekula Island we were welcomed by Edline George, a mother of five. She said she was the local preschool teacher and being a teacher I asked if I could look at the school.
She explained that she had done a four week training course and with her husband they had built a school.
This was a simple grass shelter with a dirt floor. Inside there was a hand made table, a bench, a couple of magazines that looked like they had been washed up from a yacht, a black board and some shells for counting.
I was impressed that she had taken such initiative without any external assistance.
Returning to Australia we packed a box of teaching materials and sent it back to her. Her response was over whelming.
With just a small effort we could support Edline and make a difference.

To be a patron you simply pack a box with an assortment of preschool aids - scissors, pencils, paper, books, crayons, paints, brushes, magazines to cut out, glue, soft toys, games. Many of these can be sourced from second hand shops. You might be a family, a child care or preschool centre or an office team. You will be designated a village and you and your team collect teaching aids and ship your box directly to the teacher at the designated village.
Include a photo of you and your team and an address so they can write back.
Contact us if you would like to be a patron and we will send you your school contact in Vanuatu.
Or you could send us a donation and our volunteers will collect and ship the package.
