the God parent project I never expected to ever go to Africa. Now I cannot imagine life without thinking of Africa.

filming in Malawi in 2004, we were confronted numerous times by the
old people who were the sole carers of their grandchildren.
This is xxxx who told me that her son and his wife had died and she was now the sole supporter of her five grandchildren. She is old and blind and very distressed that she cannot afford to send them to school. On the day we were there, the youngest child was scratching out the remnants of a porridge dish. There was no other food. Other people in this village are so poor they cannot help. With Kote and Hebrews, we committed ourselves to try and ease this situation. [K] company will ask friends and colleagues to give a US$200 donation. This will be forwarded to the Malawi team. Hebrews will provide his vehicle and Kote will pay for the fuel and with their wives they would deliver directly to a family the heavy provisions (flour, fuel) and remaining money.

Back from Africa, friends asked what can they do. They wanted to help but were concerned whether their donations would really get to those in need. The Godparent project is our attempt to bring immediate and direct relief to people like ..... US$200 could make a difference to an orphaned family. It would supply a large bag of maize flour, a goat, a large container of cooking fuel, soap, uniforms. school books and fees. The remaining cash will be given to the Grand mother to decide how to spend it.
